PE and Sport Premium
PE is a highly valued part of the curriculum at King Edward Primary School as it promotes a healthy lifestyle, the building blocks upon which they can develop into healthy, knowledgeable adults.
Regular exercise benefits our pupil’s physical and mental health as well as giving opportunities for children to develop key values such as teamwork, fair play and respect for themselves and for others.
Physical activity also contributes to improved academic performance and regular activity during the school day is strongly associated with higher concentration levels as well as more directed, composed behaviour.
The Sports Premium is a Government initiative that targets extra money to all pupils and all schools. At King Edward, we are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all our young people.
The Government are not dictating how schools should spend this money, but are clear that schools will need to employ the strategies that they know will support these pupils to increase their active participation in sports.
The document below explains how King Edward uses our Sports Premium to enhance and broaden pupils' physical activity and experiences.
