Year 2 - Cool Cats - Miss Kitching
Welcome to the Cool Cats page.
We have got a very exciting year planned for you! Here you will find information about what is going on in your child's class.
Twitter @y2kingedprimary for more regular updates
Our main topics for the year are:
- Where in the world is Kenya?
- The Great Fire of London.
- Great Explorers.
Our first topic is all about Kenya. We will find out where it is in the world by looking at maps. We will learn about its weather and the people and animals that live there. We will make comparisons between Kenya and Thorne and learn about what it is like to go to school in Kenya
We will be reading lots of exciting stories this year.
We encourage the children to read at home every night. You play an important role in this so please try to listen to your child read and sign their home school book at least 3 times a week.
We will be doing PE on Thursdays and Fridays this year so please send your child to school in their PE kit on both of these days.
We also complete the Daily Mile daily so please ensure your child has appropriate footwear in school.
It is important that your child attends school every day as it provides a routine and develops your child’s learning. If your child is unwell, please contact the school office before 8.50am.
All Year 2 children are entitled to a free school lunch.

I am really looking forward to teaching your child this year. Mrs Deacey will be the Teaching Assistant based in the Cool Cats class and Mrs Crowther will be doing some phonics and reading support with the class.
