Year 1 - Eager Elephants - Mrs Crowther
Our first theme is Blood, bandages and Bruises- this is all about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. How they changed role and recognition of modern day nurses and of how patients are cared for in hospitals
We are very excited our upcoming trip to Cusworth Hall.
The children will be working hard on their reading and we would like to ask you for your support each night to read with your child. We encourage the children to read as much as possible and you play an important part in helping your child to read at home, You will find some questions inside your child’s reading record book that you could use to talk about the book after they have read it. It is important that children talk about the books they are reading to increase their comprehension skills. The children usually bring home an easier book than the one they read in school, this is to increase their confidence and fluency. Please sign the reading record book if your child has read with you as they are rewarded if they read every day.
Your child’s RM Easimaths login and password is at the back of their reading record. If you can’t find it just ask. Don't forget to sign up with 'Maths with Parents' who can send you ideas for maths activities you can do with your children at home. If you have lost the registration details just ask and we will be able to help you.
We have our session with a sports coach 10-11 on a Thursday morning. Please can you keep their PE kit in school all week to cover sudden changes in the timetable.
We will be finding out about lots of exciting things and going on interesting trips or having visitors into school linked to our topics in Year 1.
Theme 2 - Changes within Memory (Royal Family)
Theme 3 - Weather (Locally and the World)
It is important that your child attends school everyday as it provides a routine and develops your child's learning. If your child is unwell, please contact the school office before 8:50. Our weekly attendance will be displayed in the Year 1 entrance.
