Year 4 - Perfect Pandas - Mrs Neadley and Mrs Roe

Welcome to the Perfect Pandas

Our topic this term is all about Invasions. The children will find out about Britain was like in Anglo Saxons and Viking times. They will find out about Danelaw and Alfred the Great. They will even get the opportunity to design and make their own Viking shield.

Our maths lessons this term will begin with a focus on Place value. We will then use these skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. We will end the term looking at Measures and Time. We will continue to practise number facts and arithmetic skills throughout.

By the end of Year 4 the children will need to know all their Time Tables. We will be practising them in school. The children can access MTC on the UrBrainy website. Thanks in advance for this. All children have a Mathletics and a Times Table Rockstars password. The more they use these the better!

In Science, we will be learning about Animals and their Habitats

Reading and Writing.

This term we will be reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K Rowling. Our daily reading lessons will be based on the text. Our writing sessions will be based on our Topic and Harry Potter as we are enjoying it so much. The children bring home a reading book and they all have log ins to access online books on the Rising Stars website.

Important Information

You can follow the Year 4 Twitter page @y4kingedprimary to keep up to date with the amazing work that is happening in both Y4 classrooms. You can also follow the school Twitter account @kingedprimary

Please make sure that your child brings a water bottle to school everyday with their name on.

Sports Coach Session

We are very lucky to have fully qualified Sports Coaches working in school this year. Our PE session will be run by a qualified sports coach; this session will be outside on a Monday. We will be continuing to take part in the daily mile so it is essential your child has appropriate footwear for this especially in winter months. As always a change of kit including shoes should be left in school for a full week and taken home every Friday.

Each week attendance figures for every class in the school are shared and displayed for all pupils to see. Follow the school Twitter account @kingedprimary to find out who the winners are.
